THE RESULTS OF STRESS AT wORK
- 1 in 7 people have said that they find their work either very or extremely stressful.
- In 2007/8 nearly half a million people thought that stress at work was making them ill.
- Approximately 20% of the population are suffering from stress related depression or anxiety.
- When stress equals absence from work the average length of sick leave is 21 days compared to only 3 days for other causes.
- In 2007/8 13.5 million working days were lost due to stress, depression and anxiety.
- In recent surveys, HSE discovered that at least 30% of all common work related stressors were the probable reason for accidents caused by human error.
